US Beer Road Trip

The Man and I like to road trip, and often jump at a chance to head out and explore. It took no coaxing at all to get The Man (who doesn’t drink) to drive me around New York and Vermont collecting beer. First stop after crossing the border was to hit Paula’s Donuts in Tonawanda just off the I-90. Not beer related, but delicious nonetheless. We set up the next instalment of Stephen King’s Dark Tower audiobook series, The Wolves of the Calla, and meandered through the Adirondacks, listening, chatting and generally goofing off until we realized that Ommegang, our first stop, …

Calgary

I was in Calgary to visit family, but there was also beer-related activities (no, I will talk about Saturday night; the less said about it the better *grin).   Clockwise from upper left: A gift from my brother – the Canadian version of Beer-opoly. Long weekend

My beloved and I made the 4-hour trek north to my nephew’s cottage near Killarney for the long weekend. I love it there because not only am I blessed with family that I like hanging around with, the cottage is completely unplugged and off the grid so we can all focus on enjoying our surroundings and time with each other. My favourite part of going up there is sitting in this chair on the dock and talking with my family: while watching sunsets like this: and drinking beers like these: Left Field Eephus Oatmeal Brown Ale: This was the big …

US vacation, the beer version

My beloved and I had planned our 10th anniversary vacation back in April, before I was let go from my job of 12 years, before my life was turned upside down. I had thought a few times about cancelling it due to my change in finances, but am glad that Keith convinced me otherwise. We had not gone anywhere together for almost a year when finally got on the plane in December, and it was time to reconnect. Actually, getting on the plane was a bit touch and go – we left on the day of the ice storm. After …
