Bottling day – chocolate stout

Today was bottling day for the chocolate stout that is not an oatmeal chocolate stout as called for in the recipe. I tasted a bit after taking some out to use the hydrometer and get the final numbers, and I can’t say that the lack of the oatmeal is all that noticeable. Going by the numbers, it looks like ABV is around 4.2%, a bit lower than stated in the book. I got three 750 ml bottles and one 500 ml. US vacation, the beer version

My beloved and I had planned our 10th anniversary vacation back in April, before I was let go from my job of 12 years, before my life was turned upside down. I had thought a few times about cancelling it due to my change in finances, but am glad that Keith convinced me otherwise. We had not gone anywhere together for almost a year when finally got on the plane in December, and it was time to reconnect. Making a Stout

Holidays are over, and life returns to normal. Time to get back on track with brewing. I replenished my grains at Toronto Brewing’s new brick-and-mortar location, which while way up in the north end of the city is luckily very close to the Bunker that Toronto Roller Derby calls home. I had to go up that way for an officials meeting/practice so stopped in while I was up there.
